'A thing that flies up in space and when the moon starts to fall it lifts it back up again, ' said Scott about his model.

Cymru am byth!

Mm! Welsh cakes! After making welsh cakes with Mrs King last week the children imagined doing the same thing in the class cafe, Cafe Cymru. They had fun serving each other with 'hot' welsh cakes straight off the 'bake stone'.

The children looked at daffodils and learnt about the basic parts of the flower. They were then asked to describe or share a thought or sentence about how they saw the daffodil. They then painted the daffodil focusing on the number of petals around the trumpet and how the stem and leaves grew upwards. We have some budding painters in class!

Planting the leeks. One pot each, some seeds, some compost, some care and perhaps we'll have a prize winning giant leek in the making.

Celebrating the year of the snake

We had an enjoyable but busy week celebrating the Chinese New Year. The children painted rolls and joined them together with a little help to make their own snakes. They made dragons. They coloured dragons and even tried to do a dragon dance! They helped to make the Chinese New Year biscuits by mixing and then rolling the ingredients in corn flakes. The home corner became a Chinese restaurant for the week. At the end of the week the children had a little party listening to and dancing to chinese music then they ate fried noodles (a chinese symbol for long life) and ate the Chinese biscuits they had made.
Dragons are a popular theme in our topic 'Once upon a time' so the Chinese New Year fitted in nicely. After half term we will be seeing more dragons again but this time of the welsh variety as we will be celebrating Welsh week in preparation for St David's Day.
